I’m a bit contrary by nature. I’m the devil’s advocate in most situations and prefer to take the road less traveled. I hate hype and therefore generally avoid it on principle alone. Silly girl, closing off so many doors for no reason at all.
Easing back into this blogging thing, let me tell you about three recent purchases that I avoided for far too long because of the hype surrounding them. Now that I own them, I simply ADORE them. Of course all of these items are hyped by many on YouTube, blogs, and the 9835 forms of social media so I’m sure you’ve heard about them.
Partially because of the hype, partially because I loathe coconut, I avoided this Too Faced primer for far too long. Such a mistake because it is glorious. It’s a fake, very light coconut scent and doesn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s extremely hydrating and does its job of making my makeup stay in place all day. Just lovely.
I wasn’t on the market for a new concealer, but after I discovered Dominique Sachse I changed my ways. This Houston, TX news anchor is ridiculously beautiful and knows her stuff when it comes to making makeup last. She uses this concealer under her eyes because it covers EVERYTHING. It is extremely thick so I mostly use it on my acne and redness. If you like thin, skin-like concealers this is not the product for you. But if you want amazing coverage regardless…give this a try. I like it so much I have two 🙂
I tried so incredibly hard to avoid they hype on this one. But while everyone else moves to strobing and whatever the hell the next craze will be, I’m still firmly in the contour camp. I need to chisel out some cheek bones, okay? My beloved Illamasqua Hollow cream contour was getting a little old and this six color palette is really quite a steal at $40. I finally took the plunge and I’m on love. Completely. Hallelujah for a face palette that works on my pale, pale skin.
Is there anything you’ve fallen deeply in love with after much resistance?
