Lip Luxury: Dior Creme de Rose Review

In my last post on exfoliators, I mentioned my lack of individual reviews. Let’s fix that shall we? Here’s a solo review for ya on the famed Dior Creme de Rose…

Dior Creme de Rose

I’ve always been pretty basic (#basicbitch) girl when it comes to lip balm. I’ve been a lifelong fan of ChapStick and Vaseline is my BFF. But since becoming a YouTube and blog beauty community fan, I’ve heard all sorts of things about Dior’s Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm. Last fall during the Sephora sale (always my downfall), I finally took the plunge and here are my thoughts…

I love it.

Totally worth the money.

The end.

Dior Creme de Rose & Domino Book

Wouldn’t you just die (read: love it) if that was an actual review?!

In short, yes, this lip balm is crazy expensive. It is Dior and they have to keep up appearances, you know. But I find this rose scented lip balm worth every pretty penny. I keep this beauty in my nightstand and use it every night before bed. After six months of using it only once a day (and probably only 4/5 nights a week) I still have half of the container left. This one container may last me an entire year. And I don’t mind paying $28 for something that I love, use (nearly) every day and will (probably) last me a year.

Plus, after using it all winter long, I noticed that my lips weren’t nearly as chapped as they usually are. Previously, I was constantly exfoliating my lips and picking off the flaking skin (lovely image, I know) but I don’t think I’ve had to do that once this year.

The scent is rose (obviously), but not overwhelmingly so. I’m extremely sensitive to smell and this doesn’t bother me in the slightest. It’s comparable (but deeper) in scent to the Vaseline rose lip balm, but Vaseline is nowhere near the quality of Dior’s. The Creme de Rose is almost more milky whereas Vaseline is much more sticky, tacky and wears off almost immediately.

Finally, can we talk about the packaging for a quick sec? Gorgeous. Pretty heavy for a lip balm container and I usually associate heft in packaging to luxury. Am I the only one? This classic “CD” engraved pot could be left out on any vanity and instantly class the place up. Much like that comment.

BONUS THOUGHT: This would make a great addition to a bridesmaid’s gift along with whatever else you may choose to give them. After all, every woman needs a little Dior in her life.

How do you feel about $28 lip balm? Or designer lip balm in general? Worth it or nah? Let me know in the comments below!
