Best of Beauty 2014

2014 Best of Beauty

Erm…better late than never…right?

2014 was a kick ass year for makeup discoveries.  2013 was pretty good too, but this past year was even bettah. Check out some of my beauty favorites from 2014:

Nars Matte Velvet Lip Pencils

I die die die for these lip pencils. I bought Cruella in early 2014 and instantly fell in love. Seriously, if I could only have one lipstick for the rest of my life it would be one of these.

Nails Inc. Nail Polish

EssieButton got me started with this polish brand by introducing Porchester Square into my life. I’ve since expanded on this range and LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE (here and here). It’s just so, so good. Looks like gel polish but a fourth of the price.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

These powders have magical powers. ‘Nuff said.

Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder

This shiz has changed my life. The slightly grey toned contouring powder is the most pigmented product I’ve ever purchased. WORTH EVERY PENNY. Go get you some.

Kevyn Aucoin Eyeliner

So black, so sleek, so amazing. I’ll dedicate an entire post to it very soon…

Sephora Formula X Nail Polish

I briefly mentioned it on Instagram (and again will write an entire post on this in the near future) but this polish system has changed my nail game. Believe the hype because this stuff is impressive. Bravo, Sephora, bravo.

Real Techniques Brushes

A repeat fave from 2013, these brushes are that good.

NYX HD Concealer

The best concealer for the price. And the shade range is phenomenal too!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

When you have rosacea and acne troubles like me, the only foundation for the job is this full-coverage lovah. I even wore it for my mom’s wedding in May 🙂

OPI Nail Envy

Want your nails to grow forever and ever without breaking? Here’s your miracle product. Or you could try Biotin but beware the consequences

Make Up For Ever HD Primer

This is the glue that will keep your foundation on all day and all night long.

NYX Lip Pencil in Pale Pink

Being a pale girl, it’s hard for me to find true pale pink lip colors. This lip pencil does the trick. I’ve got three of ’em.

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette

This was one of my Christmas presents last year and I quickly declared it one of my absolutely favorite eyeshadow palettes. A year later, that still holds true. If I could only have one eyeshadow palette for the rest of my life it would probably be this beautiful baby. Bold words, my friends, bold words.

Beauty Blender

I didn’t fully understand the magic of this beauty tool until recently. It basically makes your skin look magical fantastical. Trust me: you want this, you need this (oh baby, oh baby).

What were some of your favorite products for 2014? Any new discoveries and loves of 2015? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. RealTechniques brushes are and always will be my favorite! I love them so much I couldn’t think of buying another brand for fear I wouldn’t like it as much, and also they stand up on their own! Such a space saver! xoxo

  2. So many good choices and actually some products I haven’t tried! I’m completely obsessed with the Hourglass Powders. I recently got the blush palette and have been using it daily! I don’t say that often. I haven’t tried that NYX Concealer yet, BUT that’s about to change. Their product line always, always impresses me for the most part. Another product I need in my life? That Nails Inc. nail polish!!!! Great picks!

    • Hourglass is everything. Except I’m not really into those new shadows but my wallet is probably thanking me for that! As for the NYX concealer, it’s phenomenal. I just finished a tube this morning 🙂 And Nails Inc. is phenom too. I love the “Gel Effects” version and all of the colors are so ON POINT! Lurve.

I sense a Sephora trip in your near future 🙂
