How To Get RIDICULOUSLY White Teeth

White Teeth

No, I’m not going to share a series of ridiculous oral hygiene steps like oil pulling (gag) or making your own clay toothpaste. Yeah, no. Instead I will tell you about the toothpaste I cannot live without.

Let’s back up a bit:

When I was younger, I was always a Crest girl. It’s what my mom bought me so I always used it. But once I was in junior high and started semi-caring about my looks (although, let’s face it, I didn’t know how to really do my makeup until I was 21), I was really concerned about my teeth because Crest wasn’t keeping up with my Diet Coke habit. *Kanye shrug*

And I don’t do yellow teeth.

My mom suggested creating a paste of baking soda and water to brush on my teeth once a week or so. Worked like a charm. No need for Crest Whitestrips which were all the rage at the time.

Flash forward a few years to high school when I found out that Arm & Hammer (the baking soda company) made toothpaste.

LIFE CHANGING.

No need to make a paste myself when it already comes conveniently packaged. I’m all about convenience. So, here’s my secret to white teeth:

  1. Go to store
  2. Buy Arm & Hammer toothpaste
  3. Use it
  4. BOOM. Life changed.

Arm & Hammer toothpaste comes in tons of flavors. I’ve tried them all and love them all. I usually go for the “Extreme Whitening” one because…I want extreme whitening. Obviously. Who doesn’t?

It does have a distinct flavor to it – think über clean – but I love the scent/flavor. Every other toothpaste tastes like candy to me after using Arm & Hammer for so many years. I just can’t do it. I even purposefully buy the mini tubes for travel even though other brands’ minis are much easier to come by. Target sells the mini tubes, BTW.

As further testament to the power of Arm & Hammer, every time I’ve been on a trip with someone or someone stays over, I’ve converted EVERY SINGLE PERSON who tries this toothpaste. No joke. I mean…I basically force them to try the toothpaste but once they try it they’re hooked. I’ve literally received “thank you” calls, texts and emails from sharing this stuff. It’s that good.

Arm & Hammer toothpaste can be found at any drugstore or Walmart/Target. Just look for a yellow box, usually on the bottom shelf.

You can thank me later for keeping those pearly whites, super duper pearly white.

Are you this obsessed about your toothpaste? Are you this obsessed about anything in your hygiene routine? Am I just crazy? Let me know…

  2. The only problem with it, is that it is not entirely natural ingredients that make it up. I wouldn’t want to put peroxide in my system, as whatever you put in your mouth gets absorbed in your body, as with what you put on your skin, being the biggest organ of the body, that absorbs everything you put on it. My philosophy is, if you can’t eat it, don’t put it in or on your body. Shopping in health shops (with discernment) is better for natural products. Well, that’s my take on it….everyone is different 🙂

  3. If only I didn’t have so many tubes of Crest to go through! I’ve tried A&H’s whitening booster, which you put on your brush with your normal toothpaste, and really liked that. Next time I’m in the market, I’ll have to go for their toothpastes!

  4. I havent used A&H before but I do like colgates advance white, once a week or so I put a dollop of toothpaste in my mouth and swish it around my teeth for a few mins, rinse and then I brush them properly. It gives a seriously clean feeling even in hard to reach places since its liquid. haha toothpaste secrets. Steph x

  5. I’m from Europe – can I get it here? 😀
I feel like in Europe white teeth are not as important as for example in the States. Really weird, because to me white teeth show proper hygiene. 🙂 And yellow teeth are just… not so nice 😀

    • Haha – I agree about white teeth = proper hygiene 🙂 I feel like dental standards are very different… But in America we add fluoride to our water which helps quite a bit without us having to do much work!

As for finding it abroad, I’m not sure! So sorry! If you can’t find those lovely yellow tubes in a store, just grab some baking soda. You can make a paste with water to brush with once or a few times a week. Same results!

Best of luck on the hunt!
