No, I’m not going to share a series of ridiculous oral hygiene steps like oil pulling (gag) or making your own clay toothpaste. Yeah, no. Instead I will tell you about the toothpaste I cannot live without.
Let’s back up a bit:
When I was younger, I was always a Crest girl. It’s what my mom bought me so I always used it. But once I was in junior high and started semi-caring about my looks (although, let’s face it, I didn’t know how to really do my makeup until I was 21), I was really concerned about my teeth because Crest wasn’t keeping up with my Diet Coke habit. *Kanye shrug*
And I don’t do yellow teeth.
My mom suggested creating a paste of baking soda and water to brush on my teeth once a week or so. Worked like a charm. No need for Crest Whitestrips which were all the rage at the time.
Flash forward a few years to high school when I found out that Arm & Hammer (the baking soda company) made toothpaste.
No need to make a paste myself when it already comes conveniently packaged. I’m all about convenience. So, here’s my secret to white teeth:
- Go to store
- Buy Arm & Hammer toothpaste
- Use it
- BOOM. Life changed.
Arm & Hammer toothpaste comes in tons of flavors. I’ve tried them all and love them all. I usually go for the “Extreme Whitening” one because…I want extreme whitening. Obviously. Who doesn’t?
It does have a distinct flavor to it – think über clean – but I love the scent/flavor. Every other toothpaste tastes like candy to me after using Arm & Hammer for so many years. I just can’t do it. I even purposefully buy the mini tubes for travel even though other brands’ minis are much easier to come by. Target sells the mini tubes, BTW.
As further testament to the power of Arm & Hammer, every time I’ve been on a trip with someone or someone stays over, I’ve converted EVERY SINGLE PERSON who tries this toothpaste. No joke. I mean…I basically force them to try the toothpaste but once they try it they’re hooked. I’ve literally received “thank you” calls, texts and emails from sharing this stuff. It’s that good.
Arm & Hammer toothpaste can be found at any drugstore or Walmart/Target. Just look for a yellow box, usually on the bottom shelf.
You can thank me later for keeping those pearly whites, super duper pearly white.
Are you this obsessed about your toothpaste? Are you this obsessed about anything in your hygiene routine? Am I just crazy? Let me know…
