My New (but very short-lived) Makeup Storage Solution

New Makeup Storage Solution Instagram Le Creuset Platter

If you follow me on Instagram (love it), you probably saw the picture above of my new makeup storage solution I tested out a few weeks ago. I’ve been antsy to change how my makeup is stored and, on a whim, decided to change things up without spending any money.

I grabbed a beautiful, white serving platter by Le Creusetย from my kitchen and added just the “essentials”- ha. I was easily able to fit everything I needed in an organized manner on the tray or hanging off the side handles (like my eyelash curler and tweezers). I love when people have makeup baskets (or whatever) that they use to change out their products every week/month. That concept was somewhat the inspiration for this change – a more focused use of specific products.

Although this makeup storage works and is awfully pretty, I really didn’t like it. It was nice to have fewer options which, in theory, should make my mornings move much more quickly. Unfortunately, I was so focused on keeping everything straight and in order that it slowed me down. Plus, my Muji containers are organized so well and in the same order that I work on my face that it made me miss my plastic drawers.

Soo… even though this makeup storage solution lasted me less than a week, I still think it’s a great option to share. It was clean, easy, sleek, and best of all, cheap! No need to go out and buy something completely new; just repurpose what you already have. In the wise words of Tim Gunn…

  1. I like how your tray just happened to be le creuset! How posh. I like the look of this, but I know I would never keep it tidy. I mean I can’t even put my makeup back in its bag every day. Nice idea though. X

  2. I love that you shared something that’s a great idea, but that you also shared that it didn’t work for you. It’s helpful to hear the pros and cons about things before trying them ourselves.
The only way I’ve found to organize my makeup in a way that’s quick and easy, is to buy silverware drawer organizers. It has been really great for me because I have everything separated into categories (i.e., blush/eyebrow brushes, eye liner, lipstick, etc…).
Great blog! I’ll be back for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m having a hard time connecting to your blog via WordPress! I’m not quite sure what is going on! I’ll email you more this weekend.

  3. My makeup is in one of those desk organizer things… something upholstered that I bought at a department store for an unreasonable amount of money. It drives me crazy that everything doesn’t fit perfectly. I don’t think I’ve ever really liked any way that I’ve stored my makeup… it tends to just dawdle errantly about my vanity, rolling and colliding and looking messy.

  4. I use a San Remo case (from Beauty Boxes) for storage and a lined/lidded wicker basket from Zara Home for my everyday essentials. Been working out pretty well for me, thus far…
