(Nail) Polish Porn: Happy Birthday & Lolly

I was dying to try out my new mini Deborah Lippmann polish so decided on a bright pink nail with the clichéd sparkly ring finger. It would look even better if I had a big ‘ole diamond sparkling on that finger as well… I’m just sayin’.

Zoya’s “Lolly” is a bright pink matte polish, which I love far more than expected. Truly opaque on one coat, I did two coats just for kicks. I then used OPI’s Matte Nail Envy as a top coat and unfortunately, it did not keep the polish matte. There was a slight sheen (which is fine), but I was loving the matte finish so much that I just painted another pink polish coat on top and left off a top coat.

The manicure lasted for a solid week and I’m OBSESSED with the matte finish. I especially liked it on such a bright color. I even think that the  4 total coats matte finish helped with the wear time and much less chipping than normal for my nails.
IMG_1679While I thought the Deborah Lippmann polish would be the highlight of this manicure, it turns out otherwise. “Happy Birthday” reminded my of my other OPI glitters and wasn’t beyond special. I really need to try some normal (not glitter) polishes to create a full opinion of the brand. I do have my eye on a mini Deborah Lippmann polish set for Christmas, so hopefully Santa will add that under my tree and I can further form an opinion.

How do you feel about matte polishes? Obviously, I’m in lurvvve.
