Bitches Be Haulin’

Bitches Be Haulin A Pretty Trippy Blog

In the words of Lauren, or RedHeadPhD on YouTube, “bitches be shoppin’.” Oh, yeah baby, I am spending those Christmas and birthday gift cards like they’re burning a hole in my pocket. Which they were until I spent them all on makeup. I have some serious issues. Don’t worry, I’m aware. Loud and proud makeup lover right here. I am happy to say that for all of these purchases I made over the past three months, I only spent $100 of my own money and everything else was purchased with gift cards. Did you feel the justification trying to come through in that last sentence?

Sephora VIB Rouge Birthday Gift 2014 Make Up For Ever Mascara Lipstick Eyeliner

For my birthday, Sephora (aka my mothership), rewarded me for spending all my money there with a lovely Make Up For Ever birthday gift. This is one of the few perks to being a VIB Rouge member; we get an “upgraded” birthday  gift. Rather than receiving the Beauty Insider present of a mini lipstick and mini mascara, we also get a mini eyeliner. So far, the mascara did not have much product in the sample so I only got a few uses out of it and can’t really give a review, the lipstick is not my shade so I passed it along to a friend, but the eyeliner is great.

Sephora Haul Buxom Lipstick Lipgloss VIB Birthday Gift Eyeshadow Bare Minerals

Of course I cannot go into Sephora without the angels singing buying something. The Buxom Go Nude lipstick and lip gloss duo was calling to me from those tempting bins lining the checkout counter (gets me every time). Plus, I’ve been on a search for the perfect nude lip for my pale skin. Although I’m not a big lip gloss fan, Buxom glosses are hands down the best. The Sephora eyeshadow in Metallic Taupe was beautiful in the pan (and in the clearance bin), but once applied I could not handle the shimmer/sparkle so I gave it to a friend. Finally, I’m not sure what I did to get the Bare Minerals powder trio (maybe the Buxom purchase?) but they’re all very dark shades that this pale girl cannot handle so this will go to a friend/future giveaway as well.

MAC Eyeshadow Palettes

I finally gave into the urge and bought some MAC palettes in order to depot all of my MAC eyeshadows. I bought the duo palette for my eyebrow-filler-in-er shadows and the large one for eyeshadows. I’ve always liked the little single, pot eyeshadows, but I think I will get more use out of them all open and accessible in one palette. I also picked up three MAC shadows in the pan – Mulch, Smut, and Quarry. Loves it, but damn, depotting eyeshadows is a pain.

Dermstore Haul Lip Quench Avene Moisturizer La Roche-Posay

The next purchase from Dermstore was a necessity. I ran out of my beloved Dermstore Lip Quench and had to buy a few extras “just in case.” I keep one in every place and in every bag possible. Totally normal. Since Dermstore also sells Avène, I decided to pick up a basic moisturizer and compare it to the sample I fell in love with from last fall. So far, so good. Then they sent a nice La Roche-Posay sample eye cream which I gladly accepted. Any company that send me some sample La Roche-Posay is a winner in my book.

Sedona Lace Brushes for Contour and Foundation

I also picked up some Sedona Lace brushes when they were having a pretty major sale (I got these three brushes for under $30)! Ever since my annoyance and complete change of heart with the Company-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, I looked into Sedona Lace and had my wish list ready for a sale. Safe to say, I am beyond happy with the three brushes I picked up, and I honestly wish I started my collection with this company instead. I use the top brush for cream contour, the middle for powder contour, and the lower for liquid/cream foundation. Gillian approved!

Sephora Haul Kat Von D Foundation Hourglass Ambient Blush Nars Cruella Nails Inc Polish

I posted an Instagram picture of the next few items right when I bought them and boy are they beauties. First, the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation is something I’ve lusted over for quite a while so I finally took the plunge. But after wearing it for a week, it doesn’t wear nearly as well as I hoped so I returned this thick, almost sticky formula. Sad day. I also ended up returning the gorgeous Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow. It’s the lightest in the new blush range which I thought would be great for my lighter than light skin, but unfortunately it was just too light. I wanted to exchange it for Mood Exposure, but they were sold out. I may wait even longer and see if they come out with even more shades… On a much happier note, I adore the Nails Inc. polish in Kensington High Street and I’m OBSESSED with Nars Cruella Lip Pencil. Seriously obsessed. The most beautiful lip color I’ve ever worn. I’m sure I will write an entire love letter to Cruella at some point.

Sephora Haul Nars Matte Velvet Lip Pencils Nails Inc Gel Effects Polish

When I returned the foundation and blush, I exchanged them for another Nails Inc. polish in Mayfair Lane and two more Nars Matte Velvet Lip Pencils in Never Say Never and Damned. Those lip pencils are the shiz.

Nordstrom Haul Chanel Eyeshadow Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow Eyeliner Set

I used a Nordstrom gift card on a fancy little Kevyn Aucoin set and a Chanel eyeshadow. The Kevyn Aucoin set includes a black eyeliner, three eyeshadows, the Sculpting Powder Medium, and the Celestial Powder in Candlelight. This was quite an expensive palette considering the small size, but here’s how I justify it: (1) I wanted to try Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadows which are expensive anyways (2) I’m already obsessed with the Sculpting Powder and wouldn’t mind having another one (3) Having the Celestial Powder in this kit saves me from buying it on its own (which I was about to do…)  and (4) All of these items in one sleek and convenient compact is worth the price in and of itself. I truly appreciate convenience and am willing to pay for it. Plus, I bought this with a gift card aka “free money” so anything goes ;).

Nordstrom Haul Kevyn Aucoin Set Chanel Eyeshadow

On to the Chanel eyeshadow in Taupe Grise. What more do I have to say other than it is beautiful and I’m so glad to finally have my hands on it. It’s one of those multidimensional eyeshadows that can be worn on its own, yet it looks like completely different shades. I’m a one eyeshadow kind of girl so this is perfect for me. Loves it.

Redken Diamond Oil Lolita Lempicka Perfume Ulta

At Ulta, I had my Ulta Reward certificate in hand to get this Lolita Lempicka perfume FO’ FREE. Bitches be shoppin’ smart. I’m no good at describing scents, so just trust me when I say it smells gorge. It actually smells like nostalgia because it reminds me of an old friend. This is the perfume she always wore; I seriously miss her. I then picked up the renowned Redken Diamond Oil to help give my hair some shine back. So far, I’m not so sure about it mostly because I hate the smell. My sensitivity to smell always gets in the way.

Sasa.com Haul Bioderma Missha My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks

Finally, and I mean finally, I took a chance in ordering from Sasa.com to further my sheet masking obsession even further. I picked up some sheet masks from Missha, My Beauty Diary, and some random company with strawberry ones. Sasa happened to have Bioderma which I’ve never tried! Hopefully, this bottle is the real deal and I will love this hyped-up makeup remover. We shall see.

Okay, I’ll stop now. These are probably my last purchases for the decade. If I do buy anything I’ll probably be too ashamed to post it…

  1. I LOVE the look of that NARS Cruella lip pencil. I recently bought a cheap red lipstick (because I desperately needed one) but when it comes time to splurge on an expensive one, I know which one to buy!

    • Me too! I was so excited for this launch but sad that one didn’t work out :(. Hopefully things will come back in stock and I can pick up one soon.

If you just hoard gift cards forever, you can have a haul like this too :)

  2. OKAY so much to comment on. Must try and make coherent sentences. First of all, Cruella. EVERYTHING. You need nothing else in life when you have Cruella. So glad you love it. I have Never Say Never as well but I need to try Damned (the one at the bottom?) So vampy. Loving vampy. Love saying the word vampy. On to the Chanel shadow. Worth it? I just purchased my first Chanel matte lipstick and I have to say the color is divine yet it does get in every single little ridge on the lips so looks like I’ll be exfoliating all around town. I have the Laura Mercier highlighting powder but I am dying to try Hourglass to see what all the hype is about. Oh and the MAC palettes? One of my best decisions yet. I had so many that I’ve filled 3 palettes and have them color coordinated because I’m clearly not OCD. You’ll be so pleased with them. I also found de-potting kind of fun after a while, but I also play mindless games in my spare time so that might just be me. Oh, and those brushes? Please tell me where I can get them. So thrifty and they look pretty plush. XOXO – Your twin.

    • Yes, yes, yes. Love that we’re twins :)

I honestly think those Nars lip pencils were the best purchase I’ve made in years! YEARS.

I definitely did not get the same warm, fuzzy feeling about eyeshadow depotting. Still a pain in the ass. I’ll only buy them in the pans from now on.

Sedona Lace brushes. Order some. Those pink synthetic ones are amazeballs.

      MUAH.

  4. Hi. I’m just stopping by. You have got a great blog here. I love the layout!
There’s something about new makeup stuff that just makes me go crazy although I’m not such a big fan and pretty simple lipgloss-eyeliner kind of girl :P

    • New makeup soothes my soul. New anything, really.

I quite like this theme – The Sight Theme. I’ve one other but this one works the best for now… I’ll probably switch it up again soon. :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. What a haul! I’m lusting after the KVD foundation but I’m gonna do a little more research. I don’t need a thick foundation that doesn’t last!
I’m so jealous of you being able to return products! Here in Germany and back in Spain, once you open it it’s yours forever and that’s all. Booh.

    • I know – that is such a perk of stores in the states. I wonder if Sephora has that policy world wide because that would be such a draw!

I would definitely try and get a tester of the KVD to see if it works for you. I know so, so many love this foundation it just didn’t work for me…
