…it turned me into a hairy animal. Just kidding…kinda.
I experienced a bit of hair loss last year due to stress, and although I have thick hair and can spare a few strands, it still caused a bit of concern. After hearing the hype about Biotin for strengthening nails and initiating hair growth/thickness, I began taking one 5000 mcg pill a day (or whenever I remembered to). I stopped about 3 months later.
All I can say is… this junk works. After two months of taking Biotin, my nails were stronger which was great; I couldn’t tell if it thickened the hair on my head. Unfortunately, the one place I would love for my hair to be longer and thicker didn’t change – I still only have four, short eyelashes.
But my eyebrows grew like crazy. I was doing a legit, serious tweeze job on my eyebrows EVERY SINGLE DAY. Whoa, Chewbacca, settle down. It really wasn’t that bad, but you get the point.
Remember this chick’s eyebrows in The Princess Diaries?
It took me a month to realize what the heck was going on, and then I promptly stopped taking Biotin. Personally, the upside of stronger nails was not worth my daily pluck-fest. I think it’s a fantastic option for people who experience hair loss or hair thinning, but it was a bit too much for me. Possibly, my dosage may have been too high but oh, well. No need for me to play around with the dosage when I don’t really need it.
If your hair is already thick, don’t worry about Biotin. Love the hair you have and remember this trick for if/when you, family or friends experience serious hair loss in the future.
Basically, I stopped taking Biotin because it really works.
I hope this helps those considering this supplement.
